Dr George Konstantinidis

Dr George Konstantinidis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Limassol, Cyprus. He completed his medical degree and doctoral research at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where his PhD, graded Excellent, examined the anatomy of the hamstring muscle origin and its implications for ACL reconstruction and sports injuries in athletes.

During his training he was distinguished with two scholarships, and subsequently specialised at the research centre of the University of Cologne and St. Anna Orthopaedic Clinic in Herne, Germany. In 2013, he was honoured with a scholarship from the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) and completed the EFORT Travelling Fellowship, gaining significant expertise in traumatology. Dr Konstantinidis served as a member of the medical team for Macedonikos Basketball Club in 2008-2009 and at professional football club ARIS from 2008 to 2013, gaining significant experience in sports injuries.

Following his specialist qualification in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Dr Konstantinidis completed a sequence of international fellowships across three continents. In Australia, he completed an AO-accredited fellowship in knee, foot and ankle surgery at the Adelaide OrthoSports Clinic and Flinders Medical Centre. In New Zealand, he undertook a shoulder and foot and ankle fellowship at Waikato Hospital, developing expertise in shoulder arthroplasty and complex ankle reconstruction. His final fellowship, at Dalhousie University in Canada, an ISAKOS-accredited centre, focused on joint preservation, sports medicine, and advanced arthroscopy in shoulder, hip, knee, foot and ankle joints.

For five years, Dr Konstantinidis practised at the Orthopaedic Department of the Level I Trauma Centre of Royal Darwin Hospital, N.T., Australia, running the Foot and Ankle Clinic and performing an average of 600 surgical procedures annually, involving challenging adult and paediatric orthopaedic trauma as well as arthroplasty and complicated elective orthopaedic arthroscopic cases of upper and lower limb. Dr Konstantinidis is a former Lecturer of Sports Medicine at Dalhousie University in Canada. In 2021 he fortified his deep knowledge in orthopaedics by succeeding at the Fellowship Exams of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). His academic research includes 19 articles in international scientific journals and four chapters in classic orthopaedic textbooks, two of them in Chapman's Comprehensive Orthopaedics. He participated in over 100 conferences and seminars in Greece and abroad, presenting more than 70 oral and poster presentations.

His expertise level is recognised world-wide. He has already served as a consultant to numerous medical companies, providing comprehensive and engaging educational initiatives to clinicians across the globe and the broader community.

Dr Konstantinidis specialises in modern surgical techniques for the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot and ankle, as well as sports injuries, including minimally invasive arthroscopic and percutaneous surgical interventions along with biological therapies in regenerative joint preservation medicine, which provide alternative solutions for some of the most challenging orthopaedic problems. He practises across Limassol, Paphos, and Nicosia.
